Dental Implants

Look and Feel Years Younger!

Dental implants have become an increasingly popular treatment option for patients desiring to replace and preserve their natural teeth and bone. They are the closest thing to natural teeth and can last for decades with minimal hassle. When you have a missing or broken tooth, you have options. Our team believes that making an informed decision about tooth replacement options is imperative!

Depending on how many teeth are missing, a patient may choose to have a dental bridge, denture, or implants.

Bridges

A bridge is when we attach a “fake tooth” to adjacent remaining teeth. This can be either permanently cemented or removable. The average lifespan for a bridge is 5-15 years.

Dentures

Dental Implants and Implant Supported Dentures in Omaha, NE - All Smiles Family DentistryFor those patients who are missing most of their natural teeth, a denture or partial denture is an option. These are completely removable and often require an adhesive to stay in place, which needs to be cleaned daily. These will need adjusting over time as the jawbones shrink and change shape due to the lack of tooth stimulation.

Implants

Dental implants are ideal for patients desiring both esthetics and function. Implants are tiny tooth-shaped titanium screws (much like those used in orthopedic procedures for knee or other joint replacements). They replace a missing tooth root in the jaw bone and have an anchor to attach a crown or dentures, depending on the patient’s needs. This procedure is well-tolerated by patients (less discomfort than an extraction!) and can be done easily with local anesthesia or under IV sedation.

Implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth. They’re great for a variety of situations, all the way from a single tooth replacement to helping permanently stabilize a wobbly denture.
